How to See When Your Database Was Opened

This was tested on Oracle 11.2: 

SQL> l
  1* select startup_time from v$instance
SQL> /
 
STARTUP_TIME
------------
24-MAY-12
 
SQL>

    I guess the right answer will be:

    select open_time from v$thread;

    Because instance startup is not necessarily mean database been opened.
